Frequently asked questions
How do I block a website?
Go to the Manual tab and tap “+ ADD RULE”. Select sites or presets (Social Media, Streaming, etc.), choose a blocking mode (UNTIL, DURING, or ALLOW), set your conditions, and tap CREATE.
What's the difference between UNTIL, DURING, and ALLOW?
UNTIL blocks sites until a condition is met (e.g., until 5 PM, until 10,000 steps, until a workout).
DURING blocks sites while a condition is active (e.g., during 9 AM – 5 PM weekdays).
ALLOW only allows sites during specified times, blocking them otherwise.
How does DNS filtering work?
Rhodes Focus uses DNS-over-HTTPS to filter website requests at the system level. When enabled, blocked sites won't load in any app or browser on your device. You can enable DNS filtering during app setup or from Settings.
Can I still use messaging on blocked sites?
Yes. Use the in-app Browser tab to access DMs and messages on blocked sites. The browser allows messaging paths (like x.com/messages) while blocking feeds.
How do step-based and workout-based blocks work?
You can set rules like “Block Instagram until 10,000 steps” or “Block Netflix until 30-minute workout”. The app reads your step count from the phone's motion sensor and checks workout logs from the Fitness tab.
What is the AI Advisor?
The AI Advisor (Pro feature) is a chat assistant powered by Rhodes that helps you set up and manage blocking rules through conversation. You can also use voice input.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Go to Settings (gear icon) in the app, then tap “Manage Subscription”. This opens your Apple ID subscription management where you can cancel or change your plan. You can also go to Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions on your device.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings (gear icon) in the app and tap “Delete Account”. This permanently removes all your data from our servers including rules, workout history, and DNS registrations.
Does Rhodes Focus work without an internet connection?
Cached blocking rules work offline in the in-app Browser. DNS filtering requires an internet connection. Rules sync every 30 seconds when connected.
